History

The journal Höyük (ISSN: 1309-8780 | e-ISSN: 2822-3985) started to be published in 1988. The first issue included reports of the excavations supported by the Turkish Historical Society. After a 21-year break, the journal published 7 issues between 2010-2015 and then suspended its publication life for 6 more years. Considering the need for publication arising from the increase in the number and quality of archaeological excavations and research in Turkey, it was decided to publish the journal regularly as 2 issues a year starting from May 2022.

Aim

Höyük journal aims to promote the excavations and surveys carried out in archaeology and all social sciences supporting this field, to publish original scientific articles in Turkish and English, prepared with comparisons and interpretations, in which important discoveries made in excavations and the data obtained are discussed in depth, and to share them with the national and international scientific world.

Scope

Höyük Journal covers original research and review articles in the fields of Prehistory (Prehistoric Archaeology), Protohistory and Prehistoric Archaeology, Classical Archaeology, Archaeometry, Cultural Heritage, Medieval Archaeology, Ancient Languages and Cultures, Physical and Social Anthropology, Epigraphy, Numismatics and Turkish Islamic Archaeology, Ancient and Medieval civilisations and the surrounding regions within the cultural interaction areas of these civilisations.

The research and review articles are expected to present the subject of the research and review articles with a summary of the scientific problem, purpose, hypothesis, methodology and critical literature, followed by interpretations and conclusions in which the contribution to the literature is clearly stated. Excavation reports, general histories of excavations or catalogues and articles translated from other languages into Turkish are not accepted.
