Abstract

The subject of the article is "Deesis Scene" that is an important scene for Byzantine Art. The mentioned scene is on a gathering arch in Seydisül Tomb where is in the village of Altıntaş of the district of Altıntaş of the province of Kütahya. Deesis Scene is a represantation the pray of Mary and St. John the Baptist to Jesus for humanity. The scene is made as a relief to surface of the arch. The surface of the arch separated seven part by pillar and arches. Figures of the scene are described on each part. The scene include; the holy wisdom throne, Blakherniotissa Mary, symbolic figures and archangels except Jesus, Mary and St. John the Baptist. Pantokrator Jesus is the center of the scene, Mary is the right of Pantokrator Jesus, St. John the Baptist is the left of Pantokrator Jesus, the Archangel Michael is beside Mary and the Archangel Gabriel is beside St. John the Baptist. To the right of the scene located the holy wisdom throne, to left Blakherniotissa Mary.
